Isabella® Liriope Is A Great Lawn Alternative Or Garden Border Isabella® Liriope is a one mow per year alternative to having a turf lawn. It has a fine leaf compact spreading habit with beautiful pink flowers. Seeing as it performs better in full sun, drought and frost, It makes a better border than using Mondo and It will also recover better from damage.
To achieve a full coverage lawn in 18-24 months with Isabella® Liriope, you plant 6 per square metre and for quicker coverage in 9-12 months you plant 12 per square metre.
Isabella® Liriope will grow to 40cm high x 50cm wide and when you mow it once per year it will grow to 15 - 20cm high x 20 - 30cm wide and makes a great lawn alternative for areas that are sunny or have 90% shade. For areas that have 70% shade, you could use a buffalo turf type.
It's also great for garden borders, specimen and mass planting and is deal around stepping stones. Isabella® Liriope is frost, drought and humidity tolerant and is suitable for all soil types. Water as required for 8-13 weeks until established. Plant it in a well mulched garden if you're not going to be using as a lawn alternative (chunky mulch is recommended).
Use slow release fertiliser in spring if required. You'll only need to mow it (or cut it back) once a year in July to August. (It'll look better if you mow it once a year but if you can't or don't want to mow it, new growth will cover discoloured leaves by spring or summer).

Works in: NSW, ACT, QLD, VIC, SA, WA, TAS & NT.
