Self propelled! - now you're talking - I like my Big Boy but you have to push it! (and it doesn't mulch)

Dont think they do it with that motor anymore, replaced with their prima donna Vanguard motor.

I bought a Mulchmaster 560 self propelled with the Briggs and Stratton 850 engine in spring. I had to order it specially to get the 850 engine over the Vangaurd (which is a re-branded version of their DOV line).

THE BEST MOWER  I have ever had.

(First post by the way, hello to all)

Not that I'm aware.

I ordered it from my local dealer.

When I finally decided to buy one, there were NONE available new anywhere in the country. I had to wait for the next production run and specifically specified the 850 engine. Strong motor, the Vangaurd and GXV didn't interest me. I would also love the 223cc engine :)

Hi Db86 and welcome,

I'm very interested in this model now and am considering getting one for next season - I've got a Honda HUT216 and a Big Boy but I'm too old to push :) - I've been dismayed by the quality of Victa Gold dealers in my local patch of SE QLD - zero floor stock of commercial models but "if you want to pay for one we'll order it for you" - sight unseen - mind telling me where you got yours from?

Cheers

Croc, most of the dealers have a large turnover of the domestic models and seldom stock the commercial models. They did have problems with the gearbox a while ago, since then they have beefed it up and it's now highly regarded. The Briggs motor is a beauty too, but I'm not sure about the snorkle availability.

Cheers John,

It just seems like bad business - walk into just about any Honda shop and you're likely to see the full range from domestic through to commercial - Victa seem to have a full commercial product range and you'd think they'd like to sell some but, at least the shops I've tried around Brisbane south, they don't have stock and will only order if you buy - sight unseen - nuts? - I'll try a wider dealer search and then email Victa direct and ask them what their arrangement is with Victa Gold dealers.

My dealer has no commercial Victas on the floor either. They had a SP Mulchmaster 560 sent out by mistake a couple years ago, and had it ticketed @ $750 "just to get rid of it"

I snapped that up pretty quick. :)

How have you found it overall - been reliable? - which engine?

Just got of the phone with the local Honda/Victa/Stihl/Greenfield dealer and he wont stock them ( with honda motor)  as they would be competing with Honda and they are a Big Honda dealer.

''But if you want to order one we can get it in for you''

Had the same problem when i bought my Victa cordless chainsaw they wouldnt stock them as they are a Big Stihl dealer.

Wonder what Victa would have to say about this from their Gold dealers - I had similar from my nearest Gold dealer when I enquired after the Victa 19" self propelled - asked me what I wanted it for and then tried to steer me to a Gravely.

Personally i dont think Victa gives a rats, (cause dealer sells plenty of small victa,s )when i looked at buying the chainsaw, apart from the Stihl issue dealer wouldnt sell me one cause Victa wanted him to buy 2.

Scored mine at a pawn shop. :)

"Gold Dealer" is just advertising bull$hit. It's all about turnover, the more they sell the lower the cost price on the next order and the higher the profit margins. But as said it's pathetic service to buy an item sight unseen and have to order it in.

Thats pretty much how things are up here and i would imagine Tasmania. They all cite freight as the killer but a lot of manufacturers have freight equalization ie every dealer everywhere pays the same for freight.
