Whats The Best Blower?
#1

I want to buy a new blower, but can't make my mind up as to what to buy.

I've used Honda's for years, but they are heavy and I had fuel leaking from the petrol cap and carbi  issues with them.

I'm currently using a Stihl, but have problems starting it in the heat.

Maybe I'm unlucky with blowers :(

Any opinions or suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks Steve

Hi

Have you considered the Victa 82v cordless blower?

I have a 80v (old model) Victa cordless blower and really like it.

Cheers

I've got a Honda too - very happy with it except for the weight - I haven't owned one but there's a Shindaiwa I'm thinking about :-

http://allpower.com....s-power-blower/

being promoted as the lightest commercial model in it's class - I've tried one out in the shop and it certainly seems to deliver but I haven't used 2 stroke gear for years so the revs and noise jar a bit.

In the market for a new blower myself, love using the EGO blower myself but, the run time on battery blowers is insufficient to be used commercially, unless you go the backpack, then the cost is enormous !

Anyone compared the 2 stihl bowers , the 56  & the 86, I think ?

Seem to be the same 27.2cc motor but, different specs.

Its almost impossible to compare specs on blowers with diff manufacturers offering diff types of specs.

If you had the time, you could work it out, but shouldn't it be standardised ?

Cheers Fred.

Funny, my wife bought one of these last week.

Extremely light but, its 21cc & to me its a little under powered.

I have only ever run stihl blowers and haven't had any real problems to date aside from wear and tear. I can't really comment on other makes as I have never used em lol. I think The main difference between the 56 and 86 is the 86 has a anti vibration handle and the ability to lock it in the full throttle position.

The BG56 doesn't rev as hard as the BG86. So yes the same motor, the BG86 has more power and much better air output. Well worth the extra spend.

Whats The Best Blower?

I was looking in to this last year Steve and gathered the following comparison specs in a post:-

Hi All,

I'm finding my Honda handheld gear a bit of a drag on the joints with each passing year.

The HHB25 blower weighs in at 5.2KG for an output of 252KLM/HR

The UMK425 tips the scales at 5.9KG for .81KW

So I'm looking at buying the best bang for buck lightweight gear for regular suburban lawns. I did a bit of online research for some basic comparison specs and pricing this arvo and thought I'd post it here in case anyone else is doing likewise.

The Tanaka seems to stand out in the blowers and the Husqvarna in whippers (not sure whether it will take an Edgeit Pro though)

I know paper specs can't tell the whole story and it would be great to hear from anyone with experience with this type of gear.

Blowers

Tanaka TRB24EA 24cc .89KW 3.9KG 273Km/Hr 12.2cubicMtr/min $289

Husqvarna 125BVX 28cc .8KW 4.3KG 274KM/HR 13.3cubicMtr/min $269

Shindaiwa EB221S 21.1cc .6KW 3.36KG 212KM/HR $349

Stihl BG56 27.2cc .7KW 4.2KG 230KM/HR $269

Echo PB2155 21.2cc .5KW 4.1KG 216KM/HR 9.5cubicMtr/min $269

Whippers

Shindaiwa T230XR 22.5cc .8KW 4.6KG     $499

Tanaka TCG22EAS 21.1cc .63KW 4.6KG     $385

Echo SRM22GES 21.2cc .7KW 4.8KG     $399

Stihl FS55R-CE 27.2cc .75KW 5KG     $349

Husqvarna 322L 22.5 .75KW 4.2KG     $399

Cheers

I've always used stihl and Makita (Dolmar) for the old boys, but about 9 months ago I was at the local toy shop (Bunnings) where I spotted a Victa blower that looked a little like a Stihl  lookalike, they were on special for $99 reduced from $220.

So I thought to myself, its cheap enough, so I bought one with the plan being a backup, well I decided to use it as my main one and see how long it would go before needing a service or crapping out. 9 months later it is still going strong always starts first or second pull and has plenty of blowing power. I haven't even clean the air filter.

Ergonomically it is well balanced and not to heavy, Victa appeared to have pulled their socks up in the last year or so.

They also make a nice 19" commercial self propelled rotary mower that seems to tick all the boxes.

hand held blowers are a waste of money, wish i never got one and just went for the best backpack.

I have a Stihl BG86 which is the most powerful handheld  you can buy.  I don't even take it with me anymore,  They are toys and not worth the money compared to a HUSQVARNA 570BTS backpack blower.

I have a HUSQVARNA 570BTS 65CC, best thing i got, saves  hours every week and does a far better job. you can blow leaves and clippings against the wind from 5m.

I had a Stihl BG56 and loved it, but sadly it was lost when the lock on my trailer cabinet failed and it has fallen out on the road somewhere.

I managed to pick up a 2nd-hand BG86 for only $100 as a fast replacement, but it needs a little work (it requires a quirky starting sequence, the primer bulb does nothing, and the whole thing cuts out if left idling for more than 15-20 seconds).

I can see where the 86 might be better than the 56, but until I get it's issues sorted I'm missing the 56.

And now I've discovered why my BG86 was being quirky. The carby died yesterday morning. Given I've been quoted $120 plus labour to replace it, it might be worth just getting a new blower. There are some deals around where Stihl blowers come with free vac/shredder kits.

Has anyone used these kits? Are they worthwhile?

I have both the BG56 and 86 and the 86 is a much better unit in my opinion. Just that bit more power, hardly any vibrations and mine seems a bit better on fuel too (it may have a bigger tank I'll have to check)

The best blower I have ever owned though was a BR600. Fantastic bit of gear, the power and control and easy of use was 2nd to none. Only downside was having to take it off and put it back on everytime a client wanted to talk.

l bought a Pope blower a couple of years ago, everyone on the other forum were raving about them. My other handheld was a Echo and the Pope blew it away - it only gets used at home but has never missed a beat

For what it's worth, we just retired the echo and got a BG56.
Despite its larger size, and apparent similar weight compared to the echo, it is better balanced and feels lighter.
According to the specs it only pushes wind 14km/hr more than the echo, but it is noticeable.
