Garage Sale
#1

Not very often i go to garage sales but Saturday morning i was going to pick up a mate and saw a garage sale in the next street, We stopped in and got a heap of great old tools for unbelievable prices. About 5 hours later i was dropping my mate home and thought id better go have a quick look to see if there was anything left as i couldn't get over the quality tools he had for so cheap. Walked in and saw this Deutscher in great condition sitting there for $500. (it wasn't there earlier)

I got it for $400 and very happy. Started straight away and runs like a dream.

Looks like a h26 model, with a modified front end due to a replacement cutter deck being used. The old square looking decks are no longer available, newer decks can be used with a few modifications. Check gearbox for oil.

Hi Natn,

just looking back over this thread I saw the old tools you bought at the garage sale - we went to Toowoomba last weekend for the Lost Trades fair and one of the most impressive stands there was this mob:-

https://www.hntgordon.com.au/

they make top quality old style hand woodworking tools - I don't do much that doesn't involve chipboard nowadays but I just wanted to buy the whole range - I just stood there drooling - I've always wanted to make Morris and Adirondack chairs:-

but never got around to it - got the bug again after last weekend.

Some top quality tools from hntgordon there Crocster. As a joiner by trade I also appreciate quality hand tools and can't stand the disposable crap sold at big chains.

My family comes from Ipswich near Brisbane and my grandfather ran the family joinery business - my father started there but joined the Navy in WW2 and never went back - he still loved woodwork all his life, built all the early furniture in our home,  and I inherited all his tools when he died - no Aldi in those days so they're all respected brand names - I built boats and canoes as a young fella and, as I move into semi retirement, I'm getting interested in doing more with wood. So much I don't know so some of the fine woodwork courses offered at the Toowoomba fair interest me.

Its that time of year down here that the council has handed out letters warning big fines if vacant blocks / nature strips etc are not maintained.

This person left it to the last minute so had no choice but to pay the $400 or face the $1600 fine.

Thats the price they pay for a last minute priority slash lol
