Smokey,

If you need simple signage (no photos or murals)…

I have a vinyl cutter and sign writing software and would be happy to mail you sign decals that you could apply yourself.

Multi-colour is no problem, I just don't have a printer that does photo art.

Watch this short video and if you feel confident comment here or pm me…

others welcome also

If you want to go with removal mag signs I've used Vistaprint - $50 a pair and they're still on 2 years later.

Thanks so much for that grae that looks like the go for me. I'll be in contact with you soon. Just waiting on my Aluminium toolboxes to be manufactured.

One of my clients is a aluminium welder so he's doing the work in his spare time. Once that is complete I'll be ready for sighn writting and know what I've got to work with

I had a look at the Mag signs from Vista print but figured I'm getting writting on the tray sides I might as well put stickers on the doors to rather than magnets.

Thanks once again for all the help and advice

Cheers,
Smokey

Grae,  , mate what do you use the vinyl cutter for ? I have been looking into this sort of stuff lately , printers, vinyl cutters , sublimation stuff , I'm very interested in finding another income stream and this has been one idea I have had

I used to manufacture signage for corporate clients in the old days.

I splurged on new vinyl cutter

and a heat press

Attached File  ht400p.jpg   31.5KB   0 downloads

a few years ago thinking I could teach the art minded daughter and give her a start in something she is interested in.

It turns out she prefers the low stress escapism of gardening, LOL.

So, a lot of the time the sign stuff sits idle. I have a 3 phase 2.5D 1300 x 2500 CNC router as well

Attached File  b1be4c8a5230fbb39876b28b8ad0e231eb0c4de4.jpg   226.92KB   0 downloads

it hasn't been started for more than a year.

Might get it going again now the quiet season has arrived.

I only use the vinyl cutter for signage on our own utes, trailers and equipment, safety signs and heat transfer press logos on all our uniforms.

The girls mostly use it for T shirt and kids clothes heat press art.

Unlimited uses with an imagination… as a simple example

Plenty of scope for making money in the evenings and off season - I have trouble finding the motivation and the energy these days and the daughters have their own families to deal with… spare time is often a hard thing to find.

edit: in the evenings dad has to do everything single handed because the other one is holding a Cooper's! :D

Thanks for that Grae , looks like you have some serious gear there. I am even more keen now, been kicking a few ideas around for a while now, but like you work gets in the way, not much spare time

In case anyone mistook my above offer…

1. I have no interest in selling signs or to have my days eaten up with that type of business

2. The offer was to make and post ready for you to apply decals for tow vehicles and trailers for lawn club regulars only

3. I am very happy to help with hints for application, layout etc if you have trouble finding answers you need on youtube

4. You have a logo, scheme layout and approximate measurements sorted before we begin any in depth pm/email conversation.

5. Where logos are concerned you have .eps vector art or reasonable sized bitmaps to work with

I only expect to be reimbursed for the cost of materials, the packing tube and the postage.

Single colour vinyl in a roll costs all up almost $8 a meter for a 610mm roll (580mm cuttable width)

so as an example  a line of text 570mm x 100mm would cost me $1 in material

but as soon as we pass 580mm in length I am cutting down the length of the roll, not across it

so it becomes $8 per meter but with an available height of 580mm

so

1 line of 1000mm x 75mm of text costs $8 and 6 lines of the same size still costs $8

Anymore discussion on this matter by initial pm then email or phone only, thanks.

edit: dad may have seemed grumpy in those posts (he usually looks grumpy), but he is not, he likes to help others. His social filters just need a bit of work. DJ

Hi Grae. It looks like a good idea for what you do. I am looking at getting some shirts done if you are interested. I have a logo already. Craig
