Small Ride On For Residential
#1

hi

just asking for advice

I only do residential jobs but getting some  larger residential jobs like 1/4 acre

and large corner blocks.

my knee's have been giving me some grief lately so

I have been thinking about a small ride on might be handy,

saving some time and helping my old body. something like a cox 32" or greenfield 32"?

looking at a new mower

no zero turn. too dangerous for me

(I had a medical stroke several years ago so my writing is not the best)

cox 32" lawn boss                          -  $3599    grey one

             stockman 3500                   - $4200

greenfield 32" fast cut standard       -  $5550

huskys  ts38" basic                          - $2799

             ts 42"                                   - $3799

jonsered  ytd 42"                               -$3799

any thoughts would be grateful

thanks

Badger

don't even consider the huskies, jonsereds, john deeres, any US ones....just get a lawn boss (don't spend the extra on a stockman either) l've thrashed the guts out of my lawn boss for 20 years (on its 3rd motor) they are unbeatable

Cox Stockman 4000 32" CS4L17B32  LIVE DRIVE

Live drive are more reliable than the hydro drives and faster

this one has the 17.5 HP brigg with a oil filter.

RE: the lawn Boss are now hydros with a Tuff Torq K46,   not the best hydro gearboxs very small and do have problems.   these are not the same Lawnboss machines of years ago.

greenfield vs Cox

Greenfield  have a throw deck, very shallow on the LHS increasing to a deep deck on the right with a large discharge chute.

The Cox is a standard depth deck, same all the way around,  same as you would see for a dedicated mulching deck mower.

I have not used a greenfield to mulch but going on what works for mulchers the Cox was my choice by design, excellent mulching and throwing

The Cox with a modded hinged Door that can be set on the fly for the any discharge from closed for mulching to full open.  great for keeping clipping in contol and off fences, paths, pots and garden beds.

Cox live drive mows just as fast in forward and reverse and the cut quality is the same.  so you can quickly forward reverse mow tight areas.

I have the HYDRO Cox it turns tighter and doesn't leave wheel marks it has a a Diff a pleasure to drive.   The Live drive has a fixed axle so plenty of traction with 2 wheels always turning but will leave mark on tight turns, with caution and practice and 3 point turns and a changed mowing pattern marks can be avioded.  the live drive works out a faster mow if you can do forward reverse mowing
