Hi all just wondering what all park figure you guys charge for turfing?do you think $25/m2 is too much?price of sir Walter has gone up lately,if you only need less than 100 rolls..say for a small job say 20m2,dig out existing turf, level, add new underlay returf and dump waste.does$450-500 sound about right?

A client of mine had about 60sqm of Sir Walter laid in her back yard - supply turf, 50mm undersoil, scrape off old turf and lay- pretty sure she paid $1100

bloody cheap,

Here you pay $10 p/m2 for sir walter.

guarantee I wouldn't be putting in that labour and dumping fees for $500

I just finished laying 50 sqm of Sir Walter.

Slashed and mowed the area right down before two heavy bombs of roundup over two weeks. Rotary hoe, levelled and turf down. Charged $2150.

Expenses were $850 - Turf, Rotary hoe hire.

Put around 12 hours labour in so came out at around $100 an hour for me. I threw in a first mow for free. Customer is very happy with it and so am I.

I've done a couple of turfing jobs lately.

One was 50 sqm of Empire Zoysia and I charged $2100, the other was 25 sqm of Palmetto and I charged $850.

Used the same technique on both jobs (as described by Colsy). Both jobs had ####ty access and required lots of barrowing.

Yeah I hear ya, thats what they wanted, will grow as sun gets under there in the arvo and will require line trimmer to cut it.

Yep best way I found to do a turf relay is to roundup , mow to dirt 2-3 weeks later add 15-20 mil turf base and lay straight on top . No hoe no dig up and remove and charge materials plus at least double for labour.

Looks really good Colsy, must be very satisfying to create something like that, that clients appreciate - I'd like to think I could do something similar but accept I'm too old now to take it on professionally.

One of my clients had a sleeper garden bed made that just looked spot on - really well done - so I got his name from her and I flick him any leads I get.

Quick tip.

If you're designing a landscape area with both lawn & garden beds, its better in nearly all cases to design the lawn & fill in the remaining area with garden bed than the other way around.

This way it will be far easier to design the irrigation to water evenly & maintenance of the lawn will be easier also if designed without small awkward areas.

With the garden beds, its not as important from a maintenance point of view.

Cheers Fred.

It looks good Colsy. I have a couple of people asking me about redoing turf areas. I will be doing Kikuyu. I will make sure that i charge correctly for labour as well $50/hr plus tip fee for dirt etc, will make sure i hire a dingo to make it easier.
Irishjim just need to make sure you make a profit from the job. I hope you did as i am just looking at these posts.

As a rule of thumb i find around $50 per m2 is what we need to charge for turfing.

That usually covers spraying round up over the old grass.

Excavation contractor and soil removal

Supply and install new soil

Supply and install sapphire buffalo

Labour charge

Cheers
