There are some crazy hills around that area Crocster, I don't know how you ever did it with a push mower.

I had to use a customers push mower the other day as there was no access to get mine down the back, damn mow exhausted me and it was only about 50sqm and flat, have gotten so reliant on SP.

Yeah, it's a mixed blessing Plucka - I was thinking last week if the drive failed on mine would I finish the lawn or bugger off to the store to get it fixed - if it was flat probably, otherwise.....

And yet part of the reason for self drive is because the mowers are so much heavier than the mowers of old I think the HRU195 was about 32kg and much better balanced on the handles than the Bismarck (217) so it wasn't that much of a hassle as I recall - no idea what the old Rover Regal I used to use weighed but it would have been similar - low 30s

HRU216M2 tips the scales at more than 50 Kg, stuck on dirt and bag full of heavy clips add some more!

Toro 30" pressed deck SP (with baffles) is over 60 Kg dry weight

Yep 21" self propelled on corner blocks or biggish square/rectangular simple lawns front and back - no contest - but gotta have a little pushie for the others IMHO - I pulled the GXV140 engine off my 19" Buffalo about 6 months ago to rebuild - time to give it to someone to finish I think - I've got a 196 but the weight difference is really noticeable - the 195 was one of Honda's best models I reckon.

…the 195 was one of Honda's best models…

but the handle kept breaking where the flat folds meet the tube above the mount bolts

Haven't had it happen to me Grae but don't doubt it could be an issue if you're going to do a lot of work with it - my plan is to have it back on the ute for the 30% of jobs where it makes sense - save the ageing body

while I'm whinging about handle mounts, the bolts on the 216 (who did they design the handle angle for) used to regularly become loose.

My overkill fix…

thin smear of PU (Sikaflex etc) as a gasket between the faces, replace the nuts with shake proof washer, flat washer and Nyloc nuts, drill a couple of 3 mm holes through both plates and smack through the holes with taper punch.

I win.

EDIT: Honda engineers probably live in high-rise buildings
