Great Thread SB,

I haven't caught anything in bl00dy ages but I'm keen to get back to the glory days. I live SE QLD and started going down to a place called Wooyung as a teenager with my Dad - in the tailor season - we didn't go in for the silly catches you could make in the old days - We'd just go down to the beach about 3pm with a beer and watch the gutters and tidal flow - then start fishing about 4 and fish through the dusk - always ended up with a bag of fresh fish for dinner and breakfast - the fishing went off later due to overfishing for many years but I believe it's come back in recent years after bag limits and fishing licences were introduced - I got one of the last Alvey reel and surf rod combos for my birthday last year and I'm keen to give it a workout - stuff the lawns.

Great topic love my fishing more than church on a Sunday ha ha.

Catching anything? Rat kings and squid at the moment on light gear.

Where do you fish? Jervis bay also use to fish stockton beach quiet offen when i had my 4x4 chasing big jewies and salmon

How do you fish? Trolling skirted lures behind the boat mainly targeting tailor, salmon and kings.

I also do the odd bottom bash for snapper and flatties.

any moments of glory or tips? A tip would be Pack the dynamite for when the fish go off the bite ha ha

Best glory moment would be my old man and i getting a double hookup and landing two big lizards last year.

After a few minutes of running around the boat trying not to cross lines and get in each others way we landed the two monsters.

The old mans fish came in at 98cm

And mine came in at 90cm so we didnt crack the magic meter but its a moment we wont forget for a long time both fish were successfully released as they are breaders at this size.

Ill get the photo off my old man and post it later.

Heading down the Harbour tomorrow morning in fact. Hopefully going to get onto some kings. Looking forward to it. Has been a few months since I’ve had a line in the water.
