Led Reversing Flood Light On Trailer
#1

When reversing my 8x5 trailer at night up my driveway, its hard to see it and even harder to see how close to the garage door it is. I want to mount a light like this https://www.narva.co.../products/72422 on the tail gate and wire it through pin 2 to the reversing lights on the ute. Will this work i.e. will there be enough current to power it?
BTW i have a sensor light on the garage but it doesn't trigger until l'm almost running into the door......and it has no adjustment switches
Anyone done this or similar?

You certainly can do it and it will work well. That light only draws 0.8 amps so provided you have the correct thickness of wire to run 2.5 meters piggybacking to the reversing lights will have sufficient power for the floodlight. I did this to my 20ft caravan with two lights and it worked well. just remember to use adequate wireing to avoid voltage drop over the distance.

I have a Yellow Roatating Beacon light with a  Magnetic Base  on the roof of the ute, its great for backing in at night it alearts everyone on the road and lights up 360 degrees a big area

I use it for comercial sites, and on busy roads, cars do give you space and change lanes early if they can.  defeniately safer with it on.

on a 7 pin

If you aren't using auxiliary power or electric brake control, you have a spare wire…

just use that on a separate switch for rear LED flood lights (or anything else that uses low wattages)

7 pin plugs

Common Earth

Left flash

Right Flash

Stop

Tail & clearance

Reverse

SPARE (electric brake control, auxiliary power)

EDIT: If you want 'The Lot' swap your plugs and rewire up to a 12 flat, or for serious draw or 'I need everything' wiring 13 or 15 round plugs are available.
