Like others here I took the plunge on battery gear for the first time with the Ego range - I've had it around 12 months now without issue and am generally pleased with it's build quality and value for money.

However a significant number here who have had to have warranty work done have reported an unsatisfactory experience. It's a pity a basically good product seems to be let down after sale and I'd like to give Ego a chance to comment and address any systemic failures.

So I'm asking would anyone who's had issues please post here with a basic detailing of the type of gear, the fault and the repair experience.

I'll let it run for a couple weeks and then invite Jason Ellis or whoever is in the hotseat now to come on here and respond.

I,m pretty sure they keep an eye on this forum, wether they care or not is a different matter.

I know they had an account here a while ago - anyway a direct call to respond will tell us where we sit in the pecking order - it may well be that commercial users don't really rate compared to homeowners but that wasn't what I was told back at the field day.

Thanx for your initiative Croc.
I have plenty of their gear & for me its a positive result overall, with a somewhat disappointing experience with after sales service. Its frustrating but, it seems some have had far worse experiences which seem to have been very unsatisfactory.
I suppose sales figures for contractors are just a drop in the ocean when compared to the big pic, again though, just not good enough!
Considering our commercial warranty is just 1yr tool or batt, compared with 5yr tool & 3yr batt for domestic, I'd like to see replacements until the repairs are complete.
Oh well, over the yrs Ive had my disappointments with other major ope mobs so its not really that much different.
I do hope they pay attention to the needs of contractors but ....... ?
Thanx again Croc, we'll see how it all pans out.
Im sure you'll keep us updated in the future.

Cheers Fred.

My EGO trimmer shat itself under warranty. Motor seized up. Took many calls to their service line to get through and my messages were never returned. Once I got through was told I had to take it to a local service agent for repair, was told it should take 1 week, it took 2. As this was my only trimmer I had to buy another one to continue to work.

I got into a heated discussion with them about the consumers right to a replacement or refund for as product with a major fault. They wouldn't budge and insisted it must be repaired.

I'm as fan of their gear but for this reason don't think I'll be buying any more EGO gear as I can't be wasting time being stuffed around waiting weeks for repairs. If I buy something from Bunnings and it breaks I can walk in and walk out with a replacement or refund in minutes.
