Evidence Of Beer Bob
#1

I have seen this clown in action and he is the archetypal beer bob, looks like a slob and works like one too. I have been meaning to knock on this persons door and ask how much they are paying for this mess. I have seen it much worse than this as well. Its a corner block too so the mess is on two sides. Its a real shocker. How he is able to blatantly do this is beyond me, there is heaps of foot and car traffic and a cafe across the road so loads of people would witness it....he really does not give a fark.

He’s even blown general rubbish along with his clippings. Depending on the local council legislation he could be charged with littering for his efforts.

Looks like a side shoot mower?  Council here makes just as much if not more of a mess here.

That' doesn't look like it's a mower that's done it. It looks like it's been blown to the road on purpose with a blower otherwise why is it clean near the curb ,i've never been ale to get the grass onto the road away from the curb what's his secret ?  ^_^ :P

For a little while after cyclone tracy i worked as a tree pruner for one of the local councils in Vic. Cant tell you what fun it was doing the Highway, no way i would stand on a busy road just to blow some grass. I do on quiet streets though.
Not sure but i cant recall blowers back then (1975)

So I drove past this place today and it was much worse on his latest job, sorry, no photos.

So I am thinking about knocking on their door and asking if they are happy with the service.

1. Do you guys think this is an OK thing to do? I would never normally try and grab another guys work?

2. What are the bets on what will happen?  EG, Will I get the job? Told to fark off?

Incidentally, i would probably do it for cheap as it is literally at the end of my street and an easy looking job.

I couldn’t ask for it though

No, that's classed as Stealing customers. Big NO NO here.

Just put a card or Flier under the front door. (then its canvasing).

He might like the mower man and doesn't care who you are or  what your price is and you should not cold call sell yourself when you know he has someone, placing advertising material and get him to come to you is another story.

A #### job is a #### job and lets us all down - wouldn't hurt to approach them IMHO - if they're paying commercial rates for a #### service then you could offer to quote - if they're paying beer bob prices and that's fine with them, walk away

You dont want to get on the wrong side of someone by targeting his customers either. Get a bad name really fast doing that here as everybody seems to know everyone.

I did it once when I was selling Real Estate. I got roasted by the governing body- REIT.  But I was wrong to do it.

I've heard of someone doing it here a few years ago and the other guy had mates follow the contractor around and then went and knocked on the door of all his customers and told them what he had done to him and stole most of his business.

Of course it’s not ok, but if he’s charging next to nothing, then I certainly don’t want that customer
