Ando, did the standard fitting kit you bought fit a Honda UMK4X5 style whipper?

Yes..I bought the kit suited to the Stihl KM 130  ....It fits the Honda UMK 4X5 perfectly

you only need to watch you tube to see trimmer line sticking out edges which now allows the stones to fly in all directions

Guard is there for the operator, not for others, hence the warnings not to use whippers within a certain meterage (15?)

Are you guys running with two whippers? One set up with this and one set up as normal for the tighter spacers?

Yes....I'm running two whippers at the moment...

I'm surprised I can do 95% of all my work with the Edgit ..  I'm still in the trial stage of this

Good stuff Ando, very interested but, here in the south of Melb we have alot of bluestone edging which is very uneven. So basically for vertical edging its just a guide for the line ?
Im also interested in its mowing ability, does it reduce gouging of uneven lawns ?
Any downside you've noticed yet ?

Cheers Fred.

it works great on an un-even edge..just enough line sticks out to deal with that ...  it also prevents that annoying line wrap around when you get tangled up on stuff..

for edging paths and driveways...it cuts a fantastic edge...and very fast..

As for mowing....its great..it actually sucks to the surface and creates a vacuum ...mows perfectly

the only down side is very tight stuff..  because of the big head..  but you can get to 98% of your work

it takes a few goes to get used to....i love it

Ando,

just askin'… to save members posting 10 other questions

Line and mm size?

thanks mate  :)

note to all

yes I have one

I only used it on 5 already Atom maintained [as an alternative to hard blades] resi jobs (1/4 acres around here) just on the one day

The one I ordered did not suit the machine I guessed it would fit but I did the best I could, I like the idea.

Fitting the wheel (it is a wheel and should be treated as such) to the fixed mounting (shaft bracket) point is a geometry/physics thing

nothing lined up on my unboxing… If I get time over winter I'll put it in the queue with all the other 'tuit' jobs

photo is post use after the 5 jobs and not an unpacking pic

You can use any Line or size you like I suppose...

I use 2.7mm Trailblazer at the moment

In my opinion this is suited to an already established edge..  ie: I would cut the edge in first with an Atom or Tilt- a-cut..Once the edge line is established...  The "edgit" is so fast to use...

This is my "Go to" edging machine on 95% of my clients now..  The other 5% are bowling green quality lawns and I use my Atom for a super fine, razor sharp edge

The most important thing when you are making this fit other machines that the line eyelet is close to the face edge of the "Edgit"

Ive been using this Edgit attachment for nearly two months now....And I must say....it has transformed the way I do my work...

The quality of edge that this makes is outstanding...I never use my Atom anymore...this does everything..

I was concerned at first that getting into tight stuff would be a problem....but honestly...i can do everything I was doing before, only better now.....  The mow-ability of my edger now is outstanding also..

This has saved hours on my daily work...  I can't praise this enough...

If you have a compatible machine...get one !!   ( its on my Honda UMK 4x5) ;)

cheers

Thanks for your updates on this Ando - I have a UMK425 and plan on buying an Edgit for spring - did you say that the model for the Stihl FS130 was the one that fitted straight on to your Honda?
