Course For Gardening Work
#1

Hello people

This site was very helpful in assisting me with getting my 19 year old son started in his mowing business. He has a reasonable amount of customers and should get a few more soon.

I would like to know if there is any qualification required to do gardening work or to actually be a gardener doing basic borders, planting, spraying etc. Does he need a qualification? He's looking at doing the Cert 2 Horticulture which would be a help.

Any advice?

Thanks

Andrew

Look into a chemical licence for spraying (this seems to be different state to state and council to council).

Hi AJS,

I've done Cert 2 & 3 in Horticulture and Cert 3 in Sports turf Management

and am looking at being a gardener as well as lawns and planting, hedging etc

Get your son to do a Cert 2. It's the basics he will learn and can't be any harm for future work

Good luck and let us know how he gets along :)

Do the cert 2 and 3 and also look at getting a onto a golf course as a trainee or apprentice. do the hard yards on a golf course and get really educated on lawns and maintenance. When confident re start on your own doing residential lawn installs, maintenance including fertilize, weed sprays and high end mowing.

I suggest Cert 2 at least.
