Only 14 hours of use and one of the belt pulleys disintegrated today, looks like the bearing was packed full of dirt/crud.   Back to the shop for warranty repair, I'm not filled with confidence regards durability.

The online reviews usually answer all questions about products, this is why most of us don't own one

That’s definitely a premature failure, I’ve seen a few Yank reviews that make mention of a pulley upgrade kit.

I pulled the covers of mine (and left them of ) just to make it easier to clean with blower. I liked mine on the flat.

Bit under powered though compared to the Time master.

Thanks for your update Plucka.

That's a #### of a thing to happen so soon. A bearing is a relative cheap fix provided it comes out easy. The belt id say might be more expensive? (I know its under warranty so price is not your concern).  You have been happy with its performance so far so don't be put off my a bad bearing. maybe ask the shop to regrease all the bearing's on the motor and charge it to the Warranty Repair. It shouldn't be a problem.

Ive had guys buy brand new Suzuki dirt bikes and have it in the contract that the steering neck bearings get regreased. - Not a problem from the shop perspective as long as your letting the shop earn some money.....- Support your LOCAL shop!!

For  interest to any dirt bike people I never did have that request on a Honda or Yamaha.

Was the shop standoffish or did they own the problem and want to get it fixed ASAP?

To be honest the guy at the shop was a bit standoffish, suggesting it may or may not be covered under warranty until the shop looks at it next week.

Found that there is a heavy duty pully kit available that uses solid steel pulleys so ideally need to get these I think. I think they are used on the newer turf masters.

Yep I noticed there was a fair amount of grass/dirt stuck under the cover.  It's been dry and dusty here last couple of weeks so I suspect dust/dirt had found their way into the pully bearings and seized it.  I'll leave the cover off now as well but I also noticed the underside of the deck has some unsealed bolt holes in it which will allow dirt/dust to get in.  Seems a stupid design.

Seal em up with sealer/bolt.

Which engine you got with your timemaster 190cc or new 226cc?

well second pulley destroyed itself yesterday at 20 hours use.  The pulleys are obviously junk.  Sent back to dealer who is ordering in the upgraded pulleys from the US, 3 week wait but at least it should solve the problem as otherwise mower is good.

Strange that Toro would continue to supply them with a known issue this bad - and that your dealer would sell you one knowing about it? -

Yeah if you google it the problem has been around for many years, then they upgraded the pulleys in the turfmaster in 2016 but never did on the timemaster. Guess the bean counters thought it might cost too much.
